SPP Stands for?

The Student Partners Program (SPP) is designed in partnership between the Canadian Visa Offices inIndiaand The Association of Canadian Community Colleges (ACCC) for the purpose of improving the outcomes of visa applications for Indian students who are aiming for studies abroad.

To apply under SPP the student should have never been refused a study permit to Canada
Student has to submit Medical examination from an SPP approved Physician prior to the visa application form.
Start date and end date of program should be clearly mentioned on letter of acceptance.
It is mandatory to give the IELTS and should score a minimum of 6.0.
Education loan from a Bank is mandatory and 80% of tution costs, living for 1 year and travel expenses should be covered from the loan.
Detail mark sheets are required.
More than one year of gap is not recommended.

SPP applications should be submitted by 1st of April for May intake and  1st of Dec for Jan intake and 1st of August for September intake Indian students can sent their application directly to VFS (Visa Facilitation Services) in New Delhi or Chandigarh.

Can a visa once refused be granted if apply under SPP?

No. This is the main first requirement that to apply under SPP student should have never been refused a study permit forCANADA. If a visa is once refused then the student has to apply under general category.

Is student visa possible without IELTS?

No, Minimum score of IELTS 6.0 band is compulsory to under SPP.

Can I apply without education loan?

No, Education loan for 80% of the first year of expenses is compulsory to consider an application under SPP. If you have funds and do not wish to take up the education loan, you can apply for visa under general category but not under SPP.

How good are the colleges which are not a part of the SPP?

Canadahas a well established education system looked after independently by each province. Even the big universities are not a part of the SPP as they do not come under the definition of Student Partnership Program however they are quality institutions. You need to be more responsible while selecting a private school or college. They have their own values for education; student’s applying to such institutions will be assessed under general category. Are the chances of getting visa without SPP is nil?

No, this is completely a myth. SPP files get priority for assessment in terms of processing time and less documentation. However student applying under general category, their files go through proper assessment and verification and students who are genuinely looking forward to study inCanada and who can afford the studies are given the visa.

New SPP rules - Canada - Jan 2013 intake - Indian Students

CANADA - SPP RULES:

This e-mail is to inform you that the CIC in New Delhi and Chandigarh has made the following changes to the SPP for the January 2013 intake as of September 1, 2012:

1.A minimum IELTS band score of 5.5 will be implemented for all programs that require 6.0 bands overall.

2.Applicants are now able to deposit $10,000 into a GIC at Scotia Bank for living expenses. The amount will be disbursed as follows:

a.$2,000 upon arrival

b.$2,000 every two months thereafter 

This is an added value feature for applicants in India and is based on the New Zealand model that is already in place in India. Applicants who make a deposit of $10,000 improve their chances of receiving a Study Visa. Please keep in mind that this DOES NOTreplace the first semester tuition payment to the institution. The CIC will be getting back to all SPP colleges regarding the mechanisms applicants can use to make a GIC deposit in the coming weeks. This deposit MUST be made in India and not by a relative outside of India including Canada.

Reasons For Spp Visa Refusal

• Try to take edmition loan on real estate like on your home,flat,shop instaed of taking on Fixed Deposit,Mutual Funds ,Shares.
• Always submit upfront fee for the first semester of the program that you have enrolled into.
• Although IELTS score requirements are 5.5, 6.0, 6.5 for postsecondary diploma, bachelor’s degree, PG diploma respectively but its always advisable to get extra bands like 6.0, 6.5, 7.0 As CHC is tightening SPP visa policy so only best students are getting the visas.
• An Education loan is MANDATORY no matter how much liquid funds you have or how super rich you are so a visa wont be granted to the student until he/she has not availed education loan from a chartered bank
• Do not provide any FALSE INFORMATION as they will be able to trap you in the interview round. As there are plenty of applications being submitted with fake documents to its highly recommend not to submit fake education loan documents coz they can confirm education loans with the bank anytime and a fraud applicant can be barred to apply to canada for 2 years
• If you have gap years then its advisable to provide some solid proofs of the work experience or the gap years.
• Do not follow your consultant blindly coz they are making money even if the visa is rejected. Consultants always try to convince the applicants that things are really easy and smooth but its not always the case so beware of the consultants who says we can provide education loans, experience certificates etc etc.

Here is a list of documents that you need in order to apply for a Canada student visa. If any of the documents is missing, your application may be refused or rejected.

1. Acceptance letter

You must have an acceptance letter from the school or college where you wish to study. Citizenship and Immigration Canada has produced a standardized letter of acceptance to be filled out by educational institutions.

2. Valid Passport or Travel Document.

You must have a valid passport that guarantees reentry to the country that issued it.

3. Six Passport size Photographs

The name and date of birth of the person should be written on the back of each photo. 1

4. Financial Support Proof

You must show a proof that you have enough money to support yourself for your entire stay in Canada. Such evidence may include:

• Proof of a Canadian bank account in your name if money has been transferred to Canada;
• Your bank statements for the past four months;
• A bank draft in convertible currency;
• Proof of payment of tuition and residence fees;
• Proof of funding paid from within Canada if you have a scholarship or are in a Canadian-funded educational program.
• Letter from your employer or sponsoring organization if you are being sponsored.
• If foreign exchange control measures exist in your country, you must provide proof that you will be permitted by the exchange control authorities of your country to export funds for all of your expenses.

5. Completed Application for Study Permit.

6. Proof of payment of the application fee in acceptable format.

7. If studying in Quebec, a valid CAQ.

8. Letter of explanation

Even if you do not require a study permit, you may wish to apply for one. If you decide that you want to continue your studies in another program after you complete your short-term course (less than six months), you should include a letter that explains why you are applying. The letter will inform the visa officer that you understand your options. For example, the letter might say:

About SPP

The SPP is an administrative framework designed and implemented in partnership between the Canadian Visa offices in India and the Association of Canadian Community Colleges (ACCC). The SPP was developed by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) in cooperation with the ACCC. The project was launched in April 2009 to improve student recruitment outcomes. SPP program was open only for Indian Nationals initially but after seeing the success of the project for Indian students it has been also started for China.  The program aims to test a model for expediting the student visa process and delivering high approval rates while maintaining program integrity. The visa approval rates under this program are 98%.

Due to the improvement achieved during the pilot, the program is being extended and expanded in 2011 also. Under this Program 43 collages of Canada are listed and there are many other ACCC colleges which also welcome students from India.  Applications to these colleges will also receive prompt processing and a fair and individual decision based on the documentation provided.

The Student Partners Program involves close cooperative partnership and feedback from the participating colleges to ensure student compliance with the terms of their study permits.

SPP - Eligibility Criteria
Under SPP students apply to a participating College and may be considered under the program if they meet specific criteria of IELTS minimum 6.5 bands overall and student should have above 55% marks in 12th. Different courses have different requirements as well. Student must sign the consent declaration on the SPP Checklist in order to be processed under this program.  Application submission under the SPP is at the discretion of each participating college.

SPP Deadlines
Visa Application Deadlines under S.P.P. Category are 1st August for September entry and by 1st December for January entry. As of 31 March, 2010, students applying under SPP may have their medical examination before submitting their Study Permit application.

1. According to new rule you can not apply in any college which is under
spp if you have less than 5.5 in any module , Requirement for overall band
is still 6 bands for under graduate program and 6.5 for post graduate program but
some colleges like fleming , mohak andcentennial they accept 6 band for post
graduate program.

2. No student can apply if his or her percentage is less than 49%, in case
someone will try, he or she will definately get rejection .

3. A new requirement for students to be deposit to a Canadian bank
- tuition and/or living for studying in Canada, its same like a rule for new zeland

4. Until that becomes effective – SPP applicants can apply with
