You MUST submit the following: 

• University Checklist – Attach THIS checklist as a  cover sheet to your application.
• Application form fully completed (all questions answered), dated and signed, indicating your  personal mailing address, reliable phone contact, and your personal email address (if you agree to e-mail communications). 
• Family Information Form and Student Questionnaire (leaving no gaps).
• Original, valid passport for yourself and each family member requesting a visa, as well as a photocopy of the bio data page.
• Two passport photographs with a white background for yourself and each family member requesting a visa. The photographs should have your name printed on the back, dated and taken in the past 6 months.
• Letter of Acceptance from your prospective University in Canada stating unconditional admission, course title, duration of study, level of study, start date (multiple start dates, if applicable) and latest possible date of admission.
• Use of a Representative form (IMM 5476) (if applicable)

The following documents are STRONGLY recommended: 

• IELTS test results taken within last 24 months
• Photocopy of the most recent  diploma/leaving certificate, and most recent mark sheets (for entire program; consolidated mark sheets are NOT acceptable)
• Copy of medical examination form IMM1017 if you opted to undergo a medical examination before submitting your application.
• PREFERRED OPTION  for proof of funds:  Evidence of purchase of a special Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) from a participating Canadian financial institution, in the amount of $10,000 CAD to cover living expenses for your first year in Canada and evidence of payment for your first year’s tuition. See information on the following page for information on how to obtain a GIC. As an alternate option, you can fulfill the financial requirement by submitting a copy of the receipt for the first year’s tuition fee AND a copy of an Educational Loan from an IndianChartered Bank equivalent to $10 000 CAD. See information on the following page for the list of acceptable banks.

APPLICATION FOR A STUDY PERMIT – UNIVERSITY CHECKLIST
• Complete and place this checklist on top of your application.
• Consult VFS website for forms and instructions
• Any document not in English or French must be accompanied by a certified translation.
• Failure to submit all required documentation may result in the refusal of your application or delay
processing.
• False statements or submission of fraudulent documents will result in immediate refusal.
• After submission of all required documents you may be required to attend an interview.
• A medical exam will be required for study program exceeding 6 months. University applicants
can undergo Up-Front Medical examinations, per instructions below.
• Any preparations you make, such as paying administration or tuition fees, are done entirely at
your own risk.
• Do not finalize travel plans unless you have received a visa from the Canadian High Commission
to India in New Delhi, or the Consulate General of Canada in Chandigarh.
• We strongly recommend that you submit your application at least three months ahead of
your proposed date of travel. Applications that are received after 01 April for May entry,
after 01 August for September entry and after 01 December for January entry will not
normally be processed in time for the start of classes and will likely be refused.
• If you intend to undergo a pre-application medical examination, please follow the instructions
below.

 that will contain your data in barcodes in 02 copies.

Here is a list of documents that you need in order to apply for a Canada student visa. If any of the documents is missing, your application may be refused or rejected.

1. Acceptance letter

You must have an acceptance letter from the school or college where you wish to study. Citizenship and Immigration Canada has produced a standardized letter of acceptance to be filled out by educational institutions.

2. Valid Passport or Travel Document.

You must have a valid passport that guarantees reentry to the country that issued it.

3. Six Passport size Photographs

The name and date of birth of the person should be written on the back of each photo. 1

4. Financial Support Proof

You must show a proof that you have enough money to support yourself for your entire stay in Canada. Such evidence may include:

• Proof of a Canadian bank account in your name if money has been transferred to Canada;
• Your bank statements for the past four months;
• A bank draft in convertible currency;
• Proof of payment of tuition and residence fees;
• Proof of funding paid from within Canada if you have a scholarship or are in a Canadian-funded educational program.
• Letter from your employer or sponsoring organization if you are being sponsored.
• If foreign exchange control measures exist in your country, you must provide proof that you will be permitted by the exchange control authorities of your country to export funds for all of your expenses.

5. Completed Application for Study Permit.

6. Proof of payment of the application fee in acceptable format.

7. If studying in Quebec, a valid CAQ.

8. Letter of explanation

Even if you do not require a study permit, you may wish to apply for one. If you decide that you want to continue your studies in another program after you complete your short-term course (less than six months), you should include a letter that explains why you are applying. The letter will inform the visa officer that you understand your options. For example, the letter might say:


What are the requirements for applying under SPP?

• The student should have a minimum of 50% or ‘C’ grade in their most recently completed degree/diploma.
• Medical examination from an SPP approved Physician is essential prior to submitting the visa application form.
• The Letter of Acceptance should have planned start date and end date of the program.
• It is mandatory to give the IELTS and should score a minimum of 6.0.
• Education loan from an Indian Chartered Bank is mandatory and 80% of tution costs, living for 1 year and travel expenses should be covered from the loan.
• Full mark sheets are required. (Consolidated mark sheet are not acceptable).
• More than one year of gap is not recommended.

About SPP

The SPP is an administrative framework designed and implemented in partnership between the Canadian Visa offices in India and the Association of Canadian Community Colleges (ACCC). The SPP was developed by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) in cooperation with the ACCC. The project was launched in April 2009 to improve student recruitment outcomes. SPP program was open only for Indian Nationals initially but after seeing the success of the project for Indian students it has been also started for China.  The program aims to test a model for expediting the student visa process and delivering high approval rates while maintaining program integrity. The visa approval rates under this program are 98%.

Due to the improvement achieved during the pilot, the program is being extended and expanded in 2011 also. Under this Program 43 collages of Canada are listed and there are many other ACCC colleges which also welcome students from India.  Applications to these colleges will also receive prompt processing and a fair and individual decision based on the documentation provided.

The Student Partners Program involves close cooperative partnership and feedback from the participating colleges to ensure student compliance with the terms of their study permits.

SPP - Eligibility Criteria
Under SPP students apply to a participating College and may be considered under the program if they meet specific criteria of IELTS minimum 6.5 bands overall and student should have above 55% marks in 12th. Different courses have different requirements as well. Student must sign the consent declaration on the SPP Checklist in order to be processed under this program.  Application submission under the SPP is at the discretion of each participating college.

SPP Deadlines
Visa Application Deadlines under S.P.P. Category are 1st August for September entry and by 1st December for January entry. As of 31 March, 2010, students applying under SPP may have their medical examination before submitting their Study Permit application.

1. According to new rule you can not apply in any college which is under
spp if you have less than 5.5 in any module , Requirement for overall band
is still 6 bands for under graduate program and 6.5 for post graduate program but
some colleges like fleming , mohak andcentennial they accept 6 band for post
graduate program.

2. No student can apply if his or her percentage is less than 49%, in case
someone will try, he or she will definately get rejection .

3. A new requirement for students to be deposit to a Canadian bank
- tuition and/or living for studying in Canada, its same like a rule for new zeland

4. Until that becomes effective – SPP applicants can apply with
student loans, we will let you know once the above becomes effective
